Christmas Home Tour 2017

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I love Christmas and I especially love all the decor that comes with it. I've collected a lot of Christmas stuff over the years but when we moved into a house that was three times as big as any place we ever lived in, I realized that I need a ton more to fill the house. Thankfully, I was able to score some great Black Friday weekend deals on garland and wreaths but of course I would love every room to be covered :) I feel like we have a good start though. The living room, dining room, and family room are all decorated. I have a few pieces in the kitchen that have some cute things too but they aren't pictured because I really hate our kitchen lol. It needs to be updated so badly! So without blabbing any further, let's get into the pictures of the house.

Bookshelf in the living room- I made these mason jars last year :)
Sorry the pictures are dark, I was trying to show the cute lights in the garland.

I made the buffalo plaid and burlap banner last year for Mark's birthday.

I can't hep it with these adorable birds!

Phew, did you make it through all those pictures?? Like I said, this is only part of the house but hopefully next year we will have more rooms decorated. I'll include some pictures of the outside of the house later this week :)

ORC Week 2: Inspiration

Chair   |   Bench
Ocean Pictures   |   Be Still print
Headboard   |   Lamp

I'm back for week 2 of the one room challenge. I have to be honest, not a ton has been done to the room in the last week other than a little paint. I was out of town from Wednesday- Sunday and haven't had a minute to breath. So today I'm here to share my inspiration for the room and the overall look I want to achieve.

As you can see above, the colors are pretty neutral. I want a relaxed and serene vibe with pops of that teal that I just love. I don't really love nautical themes but I do like the idea of subtle hints of water elements and picturesque waves. I purchased two beach/ ocean pictures already that will be hung by our nightstands. They aren't the pictures shown above because I couldn't find them anywhere to leave a link. Gotta love Homegoods for all there random stuff! The pictures I got are more muted than the pictures shown above and I'm thinking I want all the colors to be muted. The lamp might even be a little dark for the look I'm going for in the room. We will see though!

Mark also has a painting of Ocean Beach in San Diego which I love. It needs a new frame and mat though. The current mat doesn't fit correctly and the sun has made it all look so yellowy. I even tried painting the mat which looked great but I really just think I need a different size to cover up the yellow. It will have to be a custom cut because the painting is an odd size.

We purchased this headboard from Wayfair and it was super inexpensive. Mark originally wanted to make one but he's just gone so much that it wasn't feasible. I love that Wayfair has free shipping on most items and things get here so fast. We have it propped against the way right now and I love how it looks. Can't wait to see if when it's actually attached to a bed lol.

After many many paint samples we finally decided on Salt Cellar. I really LOVED Ben Moore's Moonshine but it looked dark on our walls and our room barely gets any natural light. Mark kept reminding me that I hate "dungeon" type rooms and would want to repaint it lol. I decided to trust him and go with the lightest color option out of the several that I picked. It looks more gray/ green in the color swatch above but I would say it pulls more blue and is very very light.

Mark worked on all the edging while I was gone because I totally stink at that part. My goal is to get all the paint done this weekend... let's see how that goes ha! After that it's time to make a decision about the furniture. To try and paint or not to paint it??? I'm nervous lol. See ya next week for another update!

Fall Finds at Target

Hey everyone! I'm back today with some fun fall finds (like that alliteration lol?) from Target. I was there over the weekend and wanted to buy EVERYTHING. Don't worry Mark, I refrained!

One | Two | Three
Four | Five | Six
Seven | Eight
It's still pretty warm here but I'm excited to pair some long sleeved (one, four) dresses with ankle boots (soon) and then leggings and taller boots later in the year. So many cute options!

This lace-up sweatshirt is way cuter in person. I love how it will be easy to throw on for a breezy day but isn't too heavy. I am imagining it layer with a vest when it gets a little cooler as well. They had an olive green version in stores but only had large/ x-large left. Bummer!

Christmas is definitely my fave holiday to decorate for but fall is a close second. I love all the earth tones for Fall and you can't go wrong with plaid. Finding different patterned pumpkins in various sizes is one of the easiest ways to decorate for fall. Cluster them in threes and boom you're done. I have a few grouping of pumpkins in my house right now.

I change out the throw pillows on our brown couch throughout the year and the fall pillow are my fave! I have a plaid pillow, a few pumpkin pillows similar to the one pictured, and a velvet "gather" pillow. Such an easy way to change the vibe of a room.

Hope you have a wonderful day and yay for fall almost being here!!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Can I get a hallelujah for the weekend??? I am so excited for some down time because I don't have anything planned. I'm going to work on some house stuff and then the world is my oyster. Woohoo!

Trench Coat Love

I am on the hunt for a really great trench coat. I wanted one last season but never got around to buying one. Then I wanted one of my fave Youtubers video on styling a trench coat and I knew I had to have one lol. Dramatic yes, but they are so cute for fall! I have my eye on a few but don't love the price tag. I'll let you know if I find something better!

Nordstrom Rack Goodies

I went to Nordstrom Rack a few weeks back and picked up this sweater. I am in LOVE with the material and how cozy it feels. The temperature is finally dropping enough to wear it at night. YAY! Plus you can't beat this $29 price tag!

This shirt has also become a fast fave of mine as well. It's super flattering on and looks adorable with dark skinnies and ankle boots.

New Read

I just finished the book I Found You by Lisa Jewell and I really liked it. It was a little slow in the beginning but the story takes some very interesting twists and turns. I found myself glued to it towards the end. The story is based on a man who mysteriously ends up in a seaside town and a woman, Alice, takes him in.

The story then switches to a woman whose husband has gone missing. The two are connected but exactly how is unknown. The author does a really good job of explaining the characters in depth and giving you a good sense of who they are. I think that's why it takes so long for the story to get going, but like I said, it's worth the slow start.

Pioneer Woman

During our recent move, a lot of our dishes were broken which was such a bummer. The good news is that it gave me an excuse to get some new cute ones! I found these at WalMart (not my favorite place lol) but I knew they carried the Pioneer Woman line and it's so dang cute! These dishes were under $25 and totally match my style. LOVE!

FINALLY Found a Rug

I have been on the hunt for a runner for the entryway since we moved in. I knew I needed something pretty long but I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Thankfully my friend Emily reminded me to look on Overstock (thanks Em!) and I found this beauty. It's 12 feet long and was only $70 when I bought it because I had a coupon. It's still a great deal on Overstock though and it was delivered within a week. Love it!

House Updates {Spare Bedroom}

I've posted a few pictures of the spare bedroom before but I wanted to show you the new couch and throw pillows. I feel like they make such a difference and the room is really coming together. Definitely still a work in progress, but BIG improvement!

Pumpkin   |  Gather   |  Plaid
I'm also obsessed with this entire collection at Target. Look how cute these pumpkins are for fall! Also, I'm seriously eyeing these throws to add to the room. Right now you can save 10% with the code: FALL. Also how cute is Bentley?? :)

Beautiful flowers from my hubby :) Also, don't mind the cords from the blinds or the black cord that goes to the lights outside lol!
This room is a mishmash of my getting-ready area, my desk, and my craft supply home lol. It has a little of everything!

Of course I have a few owls in here as well!

More pictures of the backyard to come! Mark did a bunch of work back there this weekend.

House Updates

We've been working on getting the house setup and everything put in place. Our new house has smaller rooms so we have a lot of shuffling of decorations and furniture. It's coming together though :)

This is in the spare bedroom/ my office. The room is kind of a mess because all of Mark's tools are in there and a bunch of other things that haven't found a home yet lol. More pictures of this area to come!

In our living room we have our giant frame that we used at our wedding. I love this thing! To the right is the chair that is below. Also, that's Oliver who is passed out on the couch.

I LOVE this chair. We picked it up from my parent's house this weekend.

I showed some living room pictures of the maps/ charts in a previous post but I thought I would share again in case you missed them.

Mark made this mason jar holder for me. We barely have any storage space so these three little jars are actually very needed. I love my handy hubby!

Weird that I am posting a picture of my toilet lol but I wanted you to see the bathroom from all angles.

I'll post more pictures as we get some things done. Mark's working on another project for me as we speak. He's so sweet! :)
